My girl crush on Miranda July has just reached astronomical heights. Not only is she an insanely talented writer and director but she is also a remarkably talented artist. In a new photo series for Vice magazine she cast herself as extras from notably classic movies like Grease and Kramer vs. Kramer. Go here to enjoy the rest of the series. She has her own eccentric brand of quirkiness that I find so utterly endearing.

Spike Jonze's frequent design collaborator, Geoff McFetridge, has a line of wallpaper for Pottok Prints. Inevitably, I've fallen quickly and deeply in love with almost all of the designs. How cute would it be to have whales in your bathroom?? Especially if you had a spectacular egg-shaped tub like the one in photo.

Whimsical Wednesday

Found this refreshingly whimsical watercolor by Kimberly Hennessey on another blog I love, aesthetics of joy, and was whisked away to a childhood memory of swing carousels, cotton candy and globular balloons. I miss the days when popsicles, bikerides and a few games of tag would be enough to have you asleep on the couch by 8:30pm, your mouth stained pink from the sugary goodness of those frozen treats. Now, after a 9 hour work day, 2 hour commute, a feeble attempt at exercising, dinner, and cleaning, I pass out on the couch in the same fashion, albeit minus the pink lined mouth. As a celebration of the end of summer, I'm going to get a few boxes of popsicles and fix up my wheel less bike so I can cruise around sucking on said popsicles and perhaps recreate this nostalgic memory of the past. Hopefully Joe won't find me passed out on the couch and think I've joined the People's Temple.

Hockey, pizza and a bottle of wine

After an epically fun weekend that began with a stylish haircut, sojourned with a Gator win and an admittedly surprisingly fun housewarming party, a lazy Sunday became a welcomed conclusion. I had forgotten how crazy fun college drinking games can be even when you lose and are forced to down a ginormous glass of warm beer. Having to nurse my hangovers a bit more tenderly than in college, Joe and I have taken it easy today, venturing out only for lunch, and will be indulging our monthly pizza binge this evening while watching some comedy classics. Hope everyone else had a great weekend!

Bikes and Busts

I've been eying these Frye Engineer boots since last winter and finally, with a friend's influence, was persuaded that I do, in fact, NEED them. To my delight they were waiting for me at the door when I came around the corner returning home from work. I'm wearing them right now actually. Bad ass motorcycle boots that will fully toughen up even the daintiest of summer dresses. To the right is a silk twill shirtdress with an utterly adorable doggie bust print from Anthropologie! A birthday present from the boyfriend!!! Although it's not quite fall yet, I'm already dreaming about pairing them with an oversize slouchy cardigan and light blue tights!

Stars in my eyes and frogs in my throat

Two weeks. 14 days. 1/2 a month. This is how long I've been sick. The demon that is my viral infection has been quietly retreating for the past few days but yet it still holds my throat and nose hostage. By now they've developed Stockholm Syndrome and are beginning to sympathize with their captor. And to think this all began when the smoke monster got off the island. Speaking of monsters, here is the ashy beast that caused my vicious illness as well as a few that haunted my dreams as a child:
