Valentine's day is just around the corner and love is certainly in the air.  Joe and I are planning an extended celebration.  Lobster and champagne at home on the day of, and a couples hot tub soak and massage a couple of days later.  Heart bubbles *popping* above our heads!

A red and pink paper heart garland leftover from holiday decorations.  I think I'm going to leave it up indefinitely.  Hearts in my eyes!

Wake up proposal

A few weeks ago we planned to head north to Baccali's to sample their famous strawberry shortcake, see post below. However, Joe had a different agenda. At 6:30am on May 15, 2010 he proposed!! On his knees, next to the bed while the cats mewed with hunger! Spontaneous, sincere, perfection!! After a celebratory brunch at Millie's we did end up heading north, but altered our destination to Malibu to meet some friends for a beach BBQ. The trip to Baccali's had to be postponed!

Whimsical Wednesday

Found this refreshingly whimsical watercolor by Kimberly Hennessey on another blog I love, aesthetics of joy, and was whisked away to a childhood memory of swing carousels, cotton candy and globular balloons. I miss the days when popsicles, bikerides and a few games of tag would be enough to have you asleep on the couch by 8:30pm, your mouth stained pink from the sugary goodness of those frozen treats. Now, after a 9 hour work day, 2 hour commute, a feeble attempt at exercising, dinner, and cleaning, I pass out on the couch in the same fashion, albeit minus the pink lined mouth. As a celebration of the end of summer, I'm going to get a few boxes of popsicles and fix up my wheel less bike so I can cruise around sucking on said popsicles and perhaps recreate this nostalgic memory of the past. Hopefully Joe won't find me passed out on the couch and think I've joined the People's Temple.
